I finally have some time today to try to understand how this site works. I had a Live Journal years ago, and it looks to be similar, but I haven't used it in years, so I'm feeling rusty. I want to start following other journals, and I see that I can simply add people to my circle, so that's neat. If I follow you and you don't recognize me, never fear, I'm probably a fan of your work in some way or I've seen you around other platforms gushing about my favorites (primarily Rogue One and rebelcaptain, but now that the new Avengers trailer is here, I see you, clintasha, and oh how I've missed you!) I'd love to get more active, so feel free to say hi!

Hello!!! I'm also still wrapping my brain around how DW works. Totally agreed re: feeling like LJ and feeling rusty. Also trying to be more active! It seems a little easier on sites like this and Pillowfort, not sure if it's bc there's fewer people (maybe I'm just not following enough yet?) or if it's the nature of the threaded comments (Oh, how I missed them!) but anyways, it's certainly interesting and fun learning my way around.

I definitely think the commenting is better. I'm slowly going through who I follow on tumblr and trying to find if they have a journal here, but I imagine it'll take some time. Pillowfort is so slow every time I get on that I get frustrated looking around. I'm sure that it'll get better, though.

Yes, Madeline L'Engle completely guided my reading life when I was younger! Her books are still favorites! And if you don't mind my gushing, "Whatever I Do (I Do It To Protect You)" and "The Climb (A Lie, A Hero)" are two of my favorite Jyn/Cassian fics!!! They are both so well written!!

Yeah, I think it may take some time to find everyone on here. Even though many people have posted their usernames on other platforms, the chances that I was around to see their post at the right time are slim! (I know I miss a lot on my dash.) And YEAH, Pillowfort is frustratingly slow. I do like it as a platform, the slowness discourages me from using it as often. I hope it gets better soon because I do like it's reblog capabilities!

I love Madeleine L'Engle, I wrote a report on her in eighth grade. Meg was such an important character for me, at that age. Have you seen the Wrinkle in Time movie? What did you think?

I did see the Wrinkle in Time movie! It was one of those rare moments of something that I've had in my head for so long that I had to manage my expectations carefully so that I wouldn't expect too much but at the same time 11 year old me needed to scream (I had the same reaction when the Chronicles of Narnia movie came out). Plus, I had the added bonus of having read the book with my son a few months before, so I may have teared up before the movie even began! All that being said, I really loved it. It was visually stunning and the actress who played Meg was fantastic. I remember feeling Disney's influence a little too much, but overall I really enjoyed it!

That's so awesome that you got to read it with your son! I purposely did not reread it because I was afraid I'd pay too much attention to the details rather than whether it met the tone (a lesson I learned from Harry Potter). Agreed re your comments! It was such a beautiful movie, and Meg was perfect. I was so glad they finally made the movie because there was a made-for-tv movie that came out when I was in HS and it was.... less good.

Oh my god, I think I remember the made for tv movie, wasn't it on Disney Channel or something? Or maybe that was the tv movie of A Ring of Endless Light? Either way, they were both Not Good!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Ring of Endless Light movie! Man, Mischa Barton was super popular back then, I wonder what she's up to now. Also I looked it up and they were both Disney movies, came out like within a year apparently. Anyways -- I greatly enjoyed the 2018 movie! Meg's story is so personal to me and I thought they handled it well.

Yay, me too!! I'm finding that I've really missed this format, especially the commenting. I've never really gotten used to Tumblr. Glad to see you here!
